Synthetic Zero — "Abrazo" (Mixed media)

2008
Curated by Mitsu Hadeishi

Abrazo (Embrace) was included in a show curated by Mitsu Hadeishi at Synthetic Zero in the South Bronx.  The piece was the end result of a performance piece created taking polaroid photos of people embracing and wrapped with embroidery thread that was later used to embroider the word Abrazo (Embrace) on cotton fabric.  This was a collaborative piece shaped by the attendees of The Commons in June 2008 and myself.

The Commons -a place in place of the place- curated by Libertad O. Guerra was a temporary space of freedom and aesthetic expression in a soon to be developed, filtered, rented, and priced warehouse under the 3rd Ave Bridge linking East Harlem to the South Bronx.
